| Q: |
How do I shut down the water to my house? |
| A: |
| In a plumbing emergency, you'll need to stop the flow of water as quickly as possible. |
 |
Each fixture or appliance has a shut off valve & can be shut off by turning the handle clockwise. If the handle is stuck or broken, turn off the water to your house by locating the service entrance. |
 |
In most Bay area homes, you should find the shutoff valve in the front of the house under a hose bib (faucet) or where the water pipes enter the home, turn this gate valve handle clockwise to stop the leak. |
